This will be our third attempt for this event! Hope it does not rain!
This is something you will never forget, a clear view of the Milky Way! Even if you are not into astronomy, you will enjoy seeing our Galaxy with your own eyes, under a perfect dark sky free of light pollution.
Museum astronomer Sean O'Brien and local amateur astronomers bring out their high-power telescopes and share their knowledge of the night sky. Get away from the glare of city lights and see stars you never knew existed. Witness the thousands of stars that litter the dark night sky, and with the help of high-power optics, view nearby planets and stars up close.
Sky Meadows State Park is West of Washington, D.C., on US Route 17 North, 1 mile South of US Route 50. There is a $4 parking fee per car. Be sure to dress warmly, and please cover flashlights with a red filter or brown paper bag.
We will be setting a base check in area with blankets. Brink food and drinks for a picnic before the show.
We will be sharing snacks so bring a little something to share, as we gaze into the stars.
Please email organizer if you need a ride from the metro, or are interested in a car pool. Otherwise We will see you at the park
